Basics of Writing a Request for Proposals(RFP): Template
A request for proposal (RFP) serves as a formal invitation for donors to submit proposals outlining how they can support a non-profit’s initiatives or projects. A strong proposal can enhance the chances for RFP selection and need to include the following aspects:
- Aligning with the donor’s mission
- Demonstrating a clear understanding of the problem or need being addressed
- Proposing a feasible and impactful solution
- Providing a detailed budget and timeline
- Showcasing the organisation’s capacity to effectively implement the project and achieve the desired outcomes.
- Conveying the organisation’s credibility, track record, and potential for sustainability
This resource includes a detailed proposal and budget template that contains the above aspects and other key sections that are commonly included in Request For Proposal (RFP) forms.
This resource is recommended for fundraising professionals, non-profit leaders and any others in the organisation who are involved in proposal writing.
Note: This is not a standard template and the information requested as a part of RFPs usually differ from donor to donor. Please use this only as a reference template. It is highly encouraged that you customise this template according to the requirements of your organisation. We are happy to guide you in this process. Please reach out to ipn@indiapartnernetwork.org
