The Empowering Grassroots programme by Smile Foundation is a capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening community-based organisations (CBOs) in India.

Aligned with the Government of India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” mission, the programme focuses on making these grassroots social initiatives self-sustainable without relying on foreign resources. It employs a two-pronged approach: providing matching grants to ensure smooth operations and offering handholding and capacity-building support.

This support enhances organisational planning, local fundraising, effective communication, and robust monitoring systems, enabling CBOs to scale up their welfare activities and ensure long-term sustainability.
